A typical weekend in Spain for Richard McWilliams

What’s it like to live in Spain?  As someone who recruits for the Online Gaming Industry based here in Gibraltar this is one of the questions that I have to answer on a daily basis.

Well, let me explain a little of my weekend to you and this may help you understand part of the reason as to why I am here. I should explain that as I was living and working in Spain initially I decided to stay in Spain and commute on a daily basis once I found my role in Gibraltar; an option that suits a number of people working in the gaming industry for a number of different reasons.

So my weekend ….my girlfriend and I have friends visiting this weekend; they have been looking forward to this trip as the summer in the UK has not been too great to say the least so we will likely spend Saturday afternoon by the swimming pool.

As Allan and I are both Manchester United fans we will watch the game in my local where a pint will cost us less than £3.00; not too bad considering we are overlooking the Mediterranean.  After that, the 4 of us will head to the Old Town for dinner as this has much more of an authentic Spanish feel than the Port area.

Sunday’s plan is quite simple; it will be a beach day with lunch at a little chiringuito (small beach bar); and possibly the odd cerveza and vino.

I know that I am very lucky to live and work in a place that most people consider a holiday destination. I see tourists come and go with great frequency but working in Gibraltar allows me to effectively have a 2-day holiday every 5 days.

Do you like the sound of the lifestyle? Well, if you are an IT or Online Gaming professional who is looking for your next career opportunity then please email me on richard@castlehillrecruitment.com to find out more about the roles that I am currently looking to cover based here in Gibraltar.
